India climbs 2 ranks in global Speedtest mobile broadband speed index in April 2022: Ookla


 According to the Ookla Speedtest Global Index, in April 2022, India climbed two places in the global ranking of average mobile internet speed. Average fixed broadband speeds in India have fallen slightly, but at the same time average mobile download speeds have increased. In mean fixed broadband speeds, India fell four places globally, from 72nd in March to 76th in April. The Index report further adds that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore top the global rankings for mobile broadband and fixed broadband, respectively.

Mobile internet speeds in April

Ookla released its April 2022 Speedtest Global Index. In the index, India's mean mobile speed rose two places to 118 in April from 120 in March. The median mobile download speed in India increased to 14.19 Mbps in April from 13.67 Mbps in March.

Fixed broadband speeds in April

In median fixed-line broadband speeds, the country fell four places from 72 in March to 76 in April. India's median fixed broadband speed rose to 48.09 Mbps in April from 48.15 Mbps in the previous month.

Top performers in the Ookla Speedtest Global Index

The countries that topped the index were the Middle Eastern country, the United Arab Emirates, and the island nation of Singapore. The United Arab Emirates took first place in mobile broadband with an average mobile download speed of 134.48 Mbit/s. Singapore ranks first in fixed broadband with an average download speed of 207.61 Mbps.

April 2022's top gainers included Ukraine and Papua New Guinea. Ukraine was the biggest ranking gainer in mobile broadband mean download performance in April 2022 and Papua New Guinea had the biggest ranking gain in fixed broadband performance in April 2022. Referral link
